Welcome to our page on Baptism/Christening. Whether you are an adult considering Baptism or a parent wanting your child baptised this page offers information and links to help you.
Planning a Christening (Baptism)
Our churches are very popular for Baptisms and we offer services on many Sundays in the year. It is worth coming in to book your baptism sooner rather than later as we generally only have room for two families and their guests at each service. For this reason the services usually take place outside our Sunday morning service, and are held at 2.30pm and 3.30pm on a Sunday afternoon and last about 40 minutes.
Families or individuals are advised to find out which church area (parish) you live in. If you live outside the West Grimsby Team parish boundaries you will need to gain permission from your local parish priest to go ahead with a Baptism here. A church near you can help you find out which is your nearest church or you can get advice from our Bookings page.
Anyone can be baptised as long a they have been prepared for it. If you are bringing a child for Baptism where possible it is good for both parents to be in agreement that their child is Baptised
If it is a child being Baptised they will need to have adults - called Godparents - to support them. Follow our link for advice on Godparents. Often we are asked about suitable Gifts for a child at Baptism. We have put together a list a suggestions here.
Adults we prepare individually; you can contact one of our clergy directly here.
Children: We ask families to attend a preparation to get ready for their special occasion, usually on a Saturday morning.
